According to Spanish news outlet El Nacional (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have joined the race to sign Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.
The Frenchman has become a key player for Wolves in the last few months. The full-back started the season on the bench but soon earned his manager’s confidence. The 20-year-old has made 11 appearances across all competition for the Wanderers.
The defender’s recent performances have been top-notch and earned him interest from some top teams. Liverpool are the latest side to have joined the list of suitors that includes Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Wolves have put a price tag of €25million (£21m) on their star full back. Liverpool shouldn’t be uncomfortable paying the sum as in the summer Jurgen Klopp’s team haven’t spent much in recent times.
Liverpool currently has two of the best fullbacks in the Premier League. Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been sensational in the last few seasons. Even in the previous night’s game against Tottenham Hotspur, both fullbacks gave incredible performances.
Even though Jurgen Klopp currently has no complaints with his full-backs. The situation looks a lot different without the two players. For the backup option for Robertson, Klopp currently has Greek star Konstantinos Tsimikas.
In such a situation, by signing Rayan Ait-Nouri, the German manager would be able to bolster his left-back options. Due to the covid condition, many players are facing self-isolation time; thus, the current player’s availability becomes highly uncertain.
While not a necessity, he will certainly add more depth to the Liverpool squad.
Rayan could fill up that space, and who knows, with the grooming of Jurgen Klopp, he could become a quality full-back and give stiff competition to Robertson for the place.
