“Third party”- Klopp gives his take on Liverpool superstar’s contract negotiations

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp addresses forward Mohamed Salah’s contract situation

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that there is nothing to worry about regarding the long-standing negotiations over a new contract for superstar attacker Mohamed Salah.

Salah is into the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield. The Egyptian insists that he was not asking for anything ‘crazy’, and went on to add that a decision on his future will be taken by the club.

Klopp however, has dismissed any concerns he has over the situation and was confident that an agreement would be reached between the parties soon.

“Things take time. There are so many things you have to do, and by the way there is a third party. The agent is there as well. But there’s nothing to worry about, it’s a normal process.”

Klopp believes there is nothing to worry about regarding the long-standing negotiations over Salah’s new contract.

Klopp reiterated the fact that both the club and player have the same goal in mind, wanting Salah to stay at Liverpool for a long time and fire the club to further success. This is good news for Reds fans who would have been alarmed by Salah’s comments.

The German said there are ‘good conversations’ taking place between the player and the club. He reminded everyone that there is no need to worry as Salah has a contract at Liverpool that runs until the summer of 2023

The Reds boss also spoke about the possibility of his Egyptian forward playing into his thirties and still performing at the highest level.

“It’s his character, his determination, the way he trains, his attitude, work-rate. It’s incredible. First in, last out, doing the right stuff. You can do some not-so-good things when you spend so long in the gym and the training ground, but he knows his body, he knows what to do.”

Klopp said there are ‘good conversations’ taking place between the player and the club.

The Egyptian King has been Liverpool’s best performer over the past few seasons. He has consistently topped the scoring charts and put in solid performances on a regular basis for the club. We are heavily reliant on the 29-year-old for our supply of goals, and the possibility of losing him next summer could prove catastrophic.

Despite the holdup in Salah’s new contract, Klopp’s words come as a welcome relief to us regarding the situation. The manager has repeatedly assured us that good, positive conversations are being had with Salah, and that this contract situation would be sorted soon.

The African forward is currently away with his national side at the Africa Cup of Nations, and it may be a while before we see him in action at Anfield again.

Confirmation about Salah’s new contract would be the best news we could receive this month. Hopefully the club and player will come to an agreement soon.
