Klopp gives latest Liverpool team news ahead of Carabao Cup semis

Injury Update: Jurgen Klopp provides the latest Liverpool team news ahead of Carabao Cup semi-final

According to the club’s official website, Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on his players ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal.

The Reds boss confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker have returned to full training after being sidelined for COVID-19. This news means that they could possibly come into contention for the clash against the Gunners.

Klopp meanwhile, ruled out any chance of Thiago Alcantara and Divock Origi returning to action anytime soon, as they remain sidelined thanks to injuries.

“Trent and Ali trained yesterday. Div and Thiago not. That’s it pretty much. Like always in these times, all players, apart from the injured ones or in Africa playing [the] Africa Cup of Nations, who test negative should be available.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an injury update on his players ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg with Arsenal.

The return of Alisson and Alexander-Arnold will please Klopp, who has seen his side battle with injury and COVID-19 concerns throughout the season. Having the experienced duo back for the Arsenal tie will boost Liverpool’s chances of going through the final.

The Reds boss was forced to field an inexperienced and fresh-faced lineup against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup tie last weekend due to the rising injury list at Anfield.

Andy Robertson was one of the few senior players who played in the cup tie, and Klopp confirmed that he too will be available for selection against Arsenal despite a small knock suffered in the game.

“Robbo got a little knock in the Shrewsbury game but is fine. I’m not sure if I forgot anybody but the rest are available.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold has returned to training after being sidelined with COVID-19, as has teammate Alisson Becker.

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliot, who suffered a long-term injury against Leeds in September, is also on the road to recovery. Klopp mentioned that the midfielder is not too far away from team training and that he was progressing well.

In a season that has seen our squad be depleted due to various injuries and a COVID-19 outbreak, any fitness update is a welcome relief for everyone, especially news about stars like Alexander-Arnold and Alisson who are vital to our team’s performances.

With a few of our stars also away at the Africa Cup of Nations, we will need everyone we have to step up and play their part for the team if we have to finish the season strongly.

We will need everyone fit and raring to go to claim a win against Arsenal in the double-tie against the London side in the Carabao Cup, as it gives us a platform to earn some silverware as early as February.
