Transfer News: Monaco reduce the asking price of Liverpool target Aurelian Tchouameni
According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool may be able to land on transfer target Aurelian Tchouameni at an economical price after French giants AS Monaco slashed his asking price.
The Les Bleus midfielder has been a subject of interest from many clubs in Europe, with Manchester United and Liverpool supposedly very keen on him. Monaco who had previously slapped a £50 million price tag on the midfield talent have now reconsidered their demand and will be willing to sell him for around £42 million.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been brilliant for Monaco this season. Playing mostly as a defensive midfielder, or sometimes in a more advanced role, Tchouameni has impressed with his abilities. He has already won seven caps in a very talented French midfield and it is clear that Didier Deschamps rates him highly.
With his reputation continuing to soar, Tchouameni is among the most sought after midfielders in European football today. It appears unlikely that he will stay at Monaco beyond the 2022 summer transfer window.
Do the Reds need him?
Despite having a squad brimming with talent, the midfield is undoubtedly the weakest area of the Reds’ squad.
Adding a player of Tchouameni’s potential will be an immense improvement in the Liverpool midfield. Despite having Fabinho, adding another defensive midfielder will only improve Jurgen Klopp‘s options.
The Frenchman can also play in a box to box role and could fulfil the Georginio Wijnaldum role at Anfield. Just 22, Tchouameni is just starting off and being coached by a manager of Klopp’s pedigree will be extremely beneficial for the youngster.
