Erling Haaland agrees personal terms with Manchester City amidst Liverpool interest

According to Daily Mail (h/t Liverpool Echo), Manchester City have won the race to sign Erling Haaland amidst interest from Liverpool. The Premier League championships already agreed on personal terms with the prolific Borussia Dortmund striker.

It has been widely speculated that the Norwegian superstar could be on the move this summer. The Borussia Dortmund striker has no shortage of options with many big teams in Europe gunning for his signature.

The 21-year-old forward has scored 25 goals in 26 appearances this season in addition to eight assists and could have had much more had it not been for an injury-hit campaign. Despite the setbacks, he remains one of the best young players in world football.

The former RB Salzburg man has been a prolific goalscorer throughout his career and has raised his level since joining Dortmund. He could be ready for his next big step though and the sky’s the limit should he join the right club.

It has now emerged that Manchester City have already beaten potential suitors to Haaland’s signature. With personal terms already agreed with the Etihad based outfit, a move could only be a matter of time.

How much is too much?

Haaland is very highly regarded and has already rightfully earned superstar status. The striker has been sensational for quite a few seasons now and will certainly add a clinical element to the Liverpool frontline.

Yes, the 21-year-old is a great talent with a potential that breaks all ceilings but there is a price for everything. How much money is too much money for the Norwegian is a question for potential suitors

Haaland’s injury record will also come as a worry to teams when they think of splurging the big bucks on him. Manchester City though doesn’t seem to be very concerned about the finances of this deal. But then they have never been skint.

Haaland will not come cheap

Liverpool may be looking to reinforce the striker position, especially with Roberto Firmino not getting any younger. They may want to bring in a youngster who can compete for the spot with Diogo Jota in the future but they will want to work within their budget.

The Reds will not want to mess up the wage budget that has served them so well over the past few years by blowing their budget on one player. Jurgen Klopp had already admitted that the finances involved make the deal a no go the Reds.

Unlike Manchester City, who have no qualms about throwing money to have their way, Liverpool have to work within their budget. Given how it has served us well in the past, there is little to worry about in losing Haaland to Man City.
