Journo: European club in talks with agent of 30-year-old Liverpool star

Transfer News: Bayern in talks with agent of Liverpool star Sadio Mane after Serge Gnabry, Robert Lewandowski update

According to Christian Falk of BILD (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bayern Munich are in talks with the agent of Sadio Mane of Liverpool after Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski refused new contracts.

Mane’s name has been linked with a move to the Allianz Arena recently in what has come as a surprise for Liverpool fans. The 30-year-old’s contract runs out in the summer of 2023 and he is yet to sign a renewal.

Bayern is a club that many players would want to play for given their hegemony in German football. And the Bavarian giants have themselves identified Mane as one of the potential replacements in attack if one or both of their star duo leaves the club in the near future.

Lewandowski is an elite goal-getter while Gnabry, the ex-Arsenal player, is a menace down the flanks while also playing centrally at times. Mane too has shown his versatility at Liverpool, playing down both flanks and as a centre-forward when needed.

Mane to Bayern?

There is some respite for LFC fans that would want the club to retain Mane. The current Bundesliga champions are also in talks with agents of Sasa Kalajdzic. Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, and Ajax’s Sebastian Haller.

Hopefully, they can fulfil their needs by signing one or more of the aforementioned trio and leaving Mane for the Reds. He is, after all, one of our top players right now who has a knack for showing up on the biggest of occasions.

It remains to be seen what comes of this in the future and if we manage to keep the ex-Southampton star at Anfield beyond this summer. Mane has won virtually everything there is to win at Liverpool. This year, he led Senegal to their first-ever AFCON title and can win the quadruple with the Reds.

A new challenge in a new league is certainly something that can make sense for a player like Mane, who has done it all in England. But hopefully, he stays here and contributes further to Jurgen Klopp’s project on Merseyside.
