“Next step”- Liverpool target playing in Germany admits he can leave this summer

LFC Transfer News: Konrad Laimer admits he can leave RB Leipzig this summer amidst Liverpool and Bayern Munich interest

Speaking in an interview with Sky Austria (h/t Liverpool Echo), RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer has admitted that he can leave this summer amidst interest from Liverpool.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for the Austrian international. However, the €20-€25million price tag is proving too expensive for them.

German publication Kicker (h/t Liverpool Echo) claimed last month that both the Reds and Tottenham Hotspur have been tracking the player. And now, the 25-year-old midfielder claims there is a real possibility he can leave the Red Bull Arena this summer.

“It is quite possible that I will no longer play in Leipzig next season. It’s a phase where you think about your future. I’m concentrating on the national team now. After that, I will sit down and talk to my closest and see what the best possible next step is for me.”

Konrad Laimer is on the transfer radar of Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

The Austrian star is on a contract that expires in 2023. A central midfielder, Laimer can play as a number six and has, at times, found himself on the right side of central midfield as well.

Laimer to Liverpool?

He is good on the ball and makes his presence felt when his team is defending as well. With Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Thiago Alcantara ageing, LFC can do with some fresh legs that have the experience of playing in a top European league.

Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are perhaps the torchbearers of our next generation of midfielders, but they are currently too inexperienced at the top level to be fixed starters.

And it is a well-known fact that there is a line of communication between Liverpool and RB Leipzig, with regard to the transfers made between the two clubs in the past.

Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita are two superstars we have brought in from the German club under Jurgen Klopp. Can Laimer be the third? That is something only time will tell- but the Reds would be wise to try their hand at signing him, especially with just a year left on his current deal.
