Liverpool have confirmed on their official website that young academy goalkeeper, Jakub Ojrzynski, has joined Polish club Radomiak Radom on a loan deal.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper is far removed from the first-team picture under Jurgen Klopp and was sent out on loan to Caernarfon in Wales last season. He saw first-team action there and now aims to replicate that in his home country.
Radomiak Radom finished seventh in their league last campaign and the new Ekstraklasa season begins next month. The 18-team first division league in Poland isn’t that highly rated as compared to leagues such as the Premier League.
But it is competitive enough for young players to gain vital experience in. He was signed from Polish giants Legia Warszawa back in 2019 but hasn’t managed a single senior appearance for us since then.
Having represented Poland at the youth levels, the 1.96m tall goalkeeper can certainly be one for the future. But right now, the Reds are not in need of a goalkeeper for their senior team.
Despite Loris Karius’ departure this summer, we have the reliable Alisson Becker in goal followed by Caoimhin Kelleher
as our number two. Adrian San Miguel is next in the pecking order.Meanwhile, Marcelo Pitaluga, Liam Hughes, and Oscar Kelly were the three players who competed for starts in our U23 team last campaign.
Hopefully, the Polish teenager comes back with a lot of experience that can help him become a first-team player for us in the future. While that time looks to be far away as of now, Adrian isn’t getting any younger and the Reds could be on the lookout for a strong number three soon.
