Liverpool keeper brands superstar teammate’s summer exit ‘crazy’

Liverpool star Loris Karius calls Sadio Mane moving to Bayern Munich “crazy”

Sadio Mane left Anfield after Liverpool and Bayern Munich agreed to a fee in the region of £35 million and Loris Karius, who is set to leave the Reds as a free agent this summer, has termed Mane’s switch to the German club “crazy”.

Karius is excited to see the Senegalese tackle German football. As Mane is one of Liverpool’s talismans, speaking to Sky Germany (h/t Mirror), the 29-year-old keeper said that it would be a crazy transfer for the Bundesliga champions.

“It would be a crazy transfer for Bayern because he’s one of the top players at Liverpool.”

The German said that he would be very happy for the Bundesliga if they manage to complete the star signing. Given that it has now come home to pass, Mane is set for a new journey in his celebrated career.

“If Bayern Munich manage to sign someone like him, then you can only congratulate them and the Bundesliga too. It would be another star in the league, so I would be very happy for the Bundesliga.”

Mane’s time at Liverpool draws to a close

Mane signed for Liverpool in 2016 from Southampton, where he made a name for himself in the Premier League. The now 30-year-old has featured 269 times for the Reds, scoring 120 goals and assisting 48, striking an impressive partnership with fellow teammate Mohamed Salah.

Alongside the Egyptian hero, the Senegalese has been part of the club’s most successful periods, winning every trophy there is.

In the 2021/22 season, he featured in 51 games, scoring 23 goals. The winger’s versatility last season has been a takeaway for fans as the 30-year-old played down the wings and in the middle up front when needed.

He was an essential part of the team in our fight for the quadruple. It must have been disappointing missing out on the Premier League and Champions League, but fans will forever be grateful for Mane’s professionalism and contributions.

With a year left on his contract, Liverpool and the Senegalese decided to part ways. The ex-Saints man has given the fans a lot to cheer about in his time at Anfield and he can leave the club with his head held high.

The Merseyside club have gone out this transfer window and signed Darwin Nunez for big money to possibly replace the departing Senegalese and fans will hope the Uruguayan can have the sort of impact Mane had at Liverpool.
