Transfer News: FC Porto waiting for Liverpool bid after rejecting Leeds United offer for Otavio
According to the Mirror, FC Porto are awaiting a big offer from Liverpool for star winger Otavio, after they rejected an approach from Leeds United.
The Dragons apparently turned down a £26million approach from Jesse Marsch’s side and now expect the Reds to turn up with a £34million offer. Historically speaking, the Portuguese side hasn’t been too fussy about letting a player leave if the offer is right.
Liverpool, for example, got a deal across the line for Luis Diaz back in January, midway through a season where the Primeira Liga side was fighting for the title. And now, Otavio could follow the Colombian to Anfield.
But for that, LFC would have to bid for the 27-year-old winger who plays down the right-hand side for the 2004 UEFA Champions League winners. Otavio could be the player we need in order to provide backup to the overworked Mohamed Salah down the right-hand side.
Should LFC go for Otavio?
The Egyptian star plays almost every game for the Reds and even played a couple of games, including the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, carrying an injury last month.
Could he be the successor to the former AS Roma and Chelsea superstar at Anfield? He would be 28 by the time Salah enters into the final few months of his current Liverpool deal.
Nevertheless, we could still expect several years of top-level service from the former Internacional star- with his former Brazilian club being an outfit that our superstar goalkeeper Alisson Becker represented before his move to Europe.

It remains to be seen if LFC will go for Otavio or not, especially knowing that they have competition for the Whites. The valuation seems reasonable and the Reds have had a good experience buying from Porto this year, with Diaz already a superstar on Merseyside.
