Liverpool defender Neco Williams has taken to his Twitter account to confirm his exit this summer, which brings to an end a long association between the club and Welshman.
Neco came through the famed LFC academy but so did Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman is the reason Williams struggled so much for regular minutes at Liverpool.
Regardless of that, he has been a regular fixture in Robert Page’s Wales side and is one of the favourites to make it to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year. Now, it seems like he has chosen his next destination.
The 21-year-old defender tweeted:
“15 years at this special club, thank you for everything @LFC it’s been an honour to play for this club and to play under Jurgen Klopp. But I’ve now decided to take up a new challenge. I wish all the team and the staff the best of luck for the future and will always…. continue to support the club. Thank you and never forget YNWA !!!”
The club where Williams is headed to has now been confirmed to be Nottingham Forest
. The Tricky Trees have been promoted to the Premier League after a great last season in the Championship.Djed Spence at right-back was a big part of their success but he was a loanee from Middlesbrough. It seems that Williams has been picked to plug that gap.
The Athletic claims that a fee of around £17million has been agreed and the defender could move to Forest pretty soon. Our fans would certainly wish him the best in future endeavours.
As for the next season, we are more than covered in that department after signing Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen earlier this summer.
