Report: Man United clash key for Liverpool star’s future

Liverpool vs Manchester United is very important for Naby Keita and his future

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg via Twitter (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Monday night derby clash against Manchester United is a very important game concerning Naby Keita and his future.

It has been speculated that Keita is not happy with his current situation at Liverpool and wants more playing time. Therefore, he has not given any indication to extend his contract, with one year remaining.

The Guinea International was on the bench in the draw against Crystal Palace and will be looking for a starting place against a struggling Manchester United side. However, if he does not start, it might result in more repercussions than the Liverpool fans would expect.

Naby Keita arrived from RB Leipzig in 2018 on a £52.75million deal after an outstanding season in the Bundesliga. Therefore, there was a lot of excitement among the supporters for acquiring the services of a midfielder of his ilk.

However, the move has not worked out in an expected way with the player failing to lay down a starting position in the Liverpool lineup due to many recurring injuries and also the level shown by his teammates.

Now, it is claimed that Keita might be looking to move to seek regular playing time, something he is not guaranteed at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to retain his services for the season due to the present injury crisis and lack of personnel in midfield. He is willing to let him go for free next year if he does extend his contract.

Coming into the season, Klopp is already facing problems to shift the tide in Liverpool’s favour and a win at Old Trafford is extremely important for us to think of mounting a title challenge.

More Liverpool News:

Therefore, it would be wise to think that he would want to play a team that has the highest probability of winning irrespective of the fact that it can result in dissatisfaction with a particular player.

It will be interesting to see the starting lineup on Monday night which might give us a whole better idea of the midfielder’s future.
