Transfer News: Liverpool are monitoring Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

According to The Times (subscription required) [h/t Liverpool Echo], Liverpool are closely monitoring the ongoing contract situation between Bukayo Saka and Arsenal.

The Gooners are said to have offered the 20-year-old a substantial increase on his current salary. It could also make him one of the highest-paid players in the team. Saka’s current contract runs till 2024.

It is no surprise that the north London club want to keep their prized asset for as long as possible. Manchester City are also said to be monitoring the situation like the Reds.

Saka rose to prominence after being with the club from the age of seven. One of the best youngsters in the world currently, the England international would be a dream player for most of the clubs not only in England but Europe.

The 20-year-old found the back of the net 11 times in 38 league appearances last season for Mikel Arteta’s side. Just 20, the player has a very long and promising career ahead of him for both club and country.

Liverpool could do with a player like him. Under Jurgen Klopp, Saka would unlock another level to his game which is unlikely to happen under Arteta (with all due respect). The 20-year-old could be the long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.

But the Gooners are confident that their star player will sign a new contract with the club. It is also highly unlikely that should Arsenal sell the winger, they would let him leave for a rival club. Fans can only hope that the winger decides to join us someday.
