“Hardly takes part”- Former German international believes ex-Liverpool star is unhappy following Anfield exit

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane ‘unhappy’ at Bayern Munich according to Didi Hamann

Speaking to GMX via Sports Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo), former Liverpool and Bayern Munich defensive midfielder Didi Hamann said that Sadio Mane doesn’t look happy at the Bavarian club.

Hamann, who played for Liverpool for a decade from 1996, thinks that Mane seems isolated from the game at the moment. The Senegalese international moved from Liverpool to Bayern after six extremely successful years on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp’s first major signing at the club, Mane won every possible top-flight club trophy at Liverpool. He expressed his desire to depart from the Merseysiders after the UEFA Champions League final last season against Real Madrid. With 269 appearances

Main Man Mane at Munich

Mane moved to Bayern for an initial fee of £27.5m + £7.5m in add-ons. He has had a good start to life at Munich, scoring three goals from six league appearances. Of late though, Hamann feels that the Senegalese who is operating from the central positions on the pitch has been left-out in attacking situations.

“He is not integrated. I saw him at Liverpool FC, where he played through the middle. That is not his position. Now he’s taking that position at FC Bayern as well. He is at his best when he comes from the outside. He doesn’t look happy to me.”

The German believes that Mane is at his best when he is operating from his favourite position on the left flank. He thinks that the former RB Leipzig winger needs to make the shift of position to see better results. Hamann also added that other Bayern players are putting in outstanding performances and amidst them, Mane looks a bit out of place.

“Nobody is talking about Mane at the moment. He seems isolated and hardly takes part in the game. FC Bayern has to get a grip on that.”

Hamann and Mane share the characteristic that both of them have played for Bayern Munich and Liverpool. The German would obviously know a thing or two about the Bundesliga giants and has suggested Mane move a bit wider from a place of concern for the 30-year-old.

Meanwhile, closer by at Anfield, Darwin Nunez who was signed as a replacement for Sadio Mane has been having a bit of a tough time adjusting to the Premier League. Nevertheless, the Uruguayan has a long career ahead of him and will hopefully settle down quicker than ever.
