Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool have had a mixed bag of a season so far, more or less hanging on the worse side. The domestic record has been terrible as per the Reds’ standards, and Liverpool have failed to win any away games in the league. It is a different story in Europe though.
Liverpool see themselves through to the next round of the UEFA Champions League, with a game to spare against Napoli. However, there are loads of areas wherein the Reds could improve their performance, mainly the midfield.
The gaffer has been experimental with formations this season and has yielded results then and there, but if the players are not in form, no matter how many times one changes the formation, it won’t hold any good.
However, Jurgen Klopp, optimistically believes that post the international break for the World Cup, Liverpool will return a much-improved outfit. Here is what he told the Press via The Express:
“If different mean this, then YES! So, yes we will be different, yes we will have trained, yes we will have players back but it also depends on how the players come back from the World Cup. I have no idea about that.”
He also added that there are a lot of “ifs, buts and maybes” but given the poor start in the league, Liverpool need “absolutes” and almost guaranteed results in order for them to get back towards the top of the table.
A league fixture against Leeds United on 29th October is the right platform to try and gather some momentum in the league as the Midlands outfit are not in the best of positions themselves and could be vulnerable.
However, complacency is where Liverpool could choke as well. Nottingham Forest gave the Reds a shock defeat last time around, and that is why, it is important to focus on the task at hand, which is getting maximum points in this fixture.
Currently, Liverpool are in the eighth position on the table, with 16 points. 12 adrift from the top of the charts, the Reds would hope to win games to get back to the pinnacle quickly.
Fans would also want to see results rather than promises at this point. There’s no denying that Jota and Diaz’s return would improve our squad but even with them, the results weren’t really going our way at the start of the season.
