Boost for Jurgen Klopp as key midfield duo return for Liverpool vs Leeds United

Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson are both set to return for Liverpool vs Leeds United

According to The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool stars Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson will both be available for selection ahead of their clash against Leeds United.

Having already secured qualification to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, the Reds can now focus their preparations for the Premier League ahead of next month’s FIFA World Cup.

With two of his senior midfielders available, Klopp will be keen to get his side’s league campaign back on track. The loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend was a bummer for a side that appeared to have regained their momentum. The onus will now be to get back into top-four contention before hopefully pushing even higher.

Thiago missed the trip to Nottingham and his absence was duly noted in the largely heartless midfield display. Having also sat out the midweek trip to Ajax Amsterdam, the Spaniard could return to face Leeds.

Jordan Henderson picked up a knock at the Johan Cruijff Arena but should be okay to face Leeds. With Fabinho looking way out of his depth, the duo’s return will certainly offer the Reds more balance.

Another Liverpool midfielder, Naby Keita

, is back in training but will sit out the game. The Guinean will ramp up his efforts to return to action only from Monday. There is also good news on the defensive front as Ibrahima Konate is also likely to return to action this weekend.
Ibrahima Konate is also closing in on a return.

As things stand, Jurgen Klopp will be without four first-team stars. The quartet of Joel Matip, Arthur Melo, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are all some way off from returning and are unlikely to see action anytime soon.

Liverpool cannot afford to drop any points on the night and should put an out-of-form Leeds side out of their misery. Anything less will undo much of the good work they have been of late otherwise.
