Liverpool willing to swap Kostas Tsimikas to sign 27-year-old France international

Liverpool willing to swap Kostas Tsimikas for Adrien Rabiot

According to Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are willing to swap Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot with the Reds interested in the French midfielder.

Rabiot is a very tricky player to judge. The French star is having a pretty good season in an underperforming Juventus side this season but as we have seen in the past, the French midfielder can have an inconsistent run.

At his best though, Rabiot is extremely talented and he can be a great signing for the Reds. However, the problem with him is that you don’t know which Rabiot you are getting and that can be extremely frustrating.

The 27-year-old former PSG star has played 20 times for the Old Lady this season across all competitions scoring seven goals and providing three assists. His good form earned him a spot in the national team with France for the World Cup.

Rabiot has started off the season in sensational fashion, scoring France’s opener against Australia. He had a solid all-around game and will be crucial to Les Blues’ chances in the absence of Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante.

Liverpool are supposedly keen on signing the Frenchman to bolster his midfield and Jurgen Klopp is even willing to even swap out Kostas Tsimikas to facilitate a move for the talented Rabiot.

Rabiot has a contract with the Italian giants until 2023 (transfermarkt) and he is yet to pen down a new deal with Juventus. If Liverpool want, they can sign him on a bargain this winter or for free next summer.

Rabiot to Liverpool sounds like a very exciting prospect on paper. But it should absolutely not come at the cost of losing Tsimikas, who has proven to be an excellent competition for Andrew Robertson at left-back.

His mother, who is also his agent, hasn’t proven to be an easy person to negotiate with. Moreover, his goal against Australia in France’s 4-1 World Cup win earlier this week could be the start of his stocks being increased after the tournament. Not to mention, it could increase the number of suitors looking to sign him.
