Mohamed Salah wins Liverpool Fans’ Footballer of the Year award 2022

Liverpool fans have voted talisman Mohamed Salah for the Liverpool’s Fans Footballer of the Year 2022 award, where the Egyptian has beaten three fellow teammates to win the yearly award.

In a voting contest initiated by Liverpool Echo, Salah won the award for a third consecutive time after winning the year in 2020 and 2021 as well.

The Egyptian King had a splendid 2022 in which he scored 22 goals in all competitions and was a key part in Liverpool’s unprecedented quadruple run last season, in which they eventually came short and won two trophies.

This season has been the best season for Salah, considering the high standards that he has set over the past few years but still has managed to give returns of 14 goals and 5 assists in 21 matches.

With the player getting over a month of a break from club football, it is a big possibility that Salah comes back refreshed and ready to break more records once the second half of the season resumes.

Finishing runners-up in the ranking was Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, who has been one of our best players in an otherwise dismal season for us and has helped the team to be in a decent position to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Following Alisson in third place was January signing Luis Diaz, who lit up Anfield on his arrival and instantly became a fan favourite. Diaz received worldwide praise for the manner in which he adapted to the style of play at Liverpool and looked like a player who had been playing under Jurgen Klopp for years.

Had it not been for the serious injury sustained, he would definitely help us to get some results our way as alongside Alisson, he was one of the standout performers for us this season.

Coming in fourth place was midfield maestro Thiago Alcantara, who after a season of struggle, looked at ease and in consonation with the league’s intensity and rhythm and played a key role in our quadruple run.

This season, as with the case of Diaz, he has been riddled with injuries and has not truly been able to leave a mark. Hopefully, the second half of the season changes that stance with the Spaniard fully fit and ready to thrive.
