“Don’t have any rush”- Brighton ace opens up on his future amidst Liverpool interest

Transfer News: Alexis Mac Allister has addressed his future at Brighton & Hove Albion amid Liverpool interest

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has addressed his future at the club and has insisted that he is “happy” and that he doesn’t have any “rush to leave”, amid Liverpool’s interest in him.

The Reds are in dire need to revamp their ageing midfield, a problem that was clearly highlighted during our 3-1 loss against Brentford last night. The 24-year-old as such has been of interest to the Merseyside club.

Mac Allister enjoyed a phenomenal World Cup with Argentina in Qatar last month. The former Boca Juniors midfielder was a key part of the squad and helped his side to lift the coveted cup, while also providing an assist in the final against France.

He is currently under contract till 2025 at Brighton and will likely command a hefty fee should the Reds come knocking. However, it is not likely to be easy as the player himself is content at his current club.

Speaking to Albion TV (h/t Liverpool Echo), this is what the 24-year-old had to say about his future at the club.

“I try not to read too much [speculation]. I always say I am happy here, I don’t have any rush to leave. I feel really good, I’m really grateful with this club, my teammates and all the people who work here. I’m just focused on the next game and this club.”

Jurgen Klopp could do with a box-to-box midfielder like the Brighton man. The likes of Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and James Milner are no longer good enough to start for the club, but the latter two have been regular this season.

Mac Allister has proven himself to be reliable at the biggest stage and has also been enjoying an excellent season so far with the Seagulls. The 24-year-old has featured in 14 league games for them, scoring five goals in the process.

It will really be surprising to see the Seagulls entertain any offer for him this month. But the Reds could submit a bid to taste the waters. It will be wise for Klopp to secure a deal for the 24-year-old, either this month or in June before someone else snaps up his signature.
