“Already on Liverpool’s list”- Reliable journo backs Liverpool to sign 24-year-old PL midfielder in the summer

Fabrizio Romano expects Liverpool to land Matheus Nunes in the summer

It is no secret that prior to his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this summer, Portuguese international Matheus Nunes was among the transfer targets for Liverpool. However, the 24-year-old opted to move to the Midlanders and Liverpool failed to add to their midfield.

After the disastrous start to the current campaign, mostly due to the midfield inconsistencies, Nunes stands re-linked with a move to the Merseysiders. Even in the FA Cup against us, the player showed his quality and dominated the middle of the park after he came on as a late substitute.

He could possibly be on his way to Merseyside in the summer, after a failed attempt last time around. Reliable Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirms the same which could be good news for the Reds.

Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, Romano spoke about the prospect of Nunes joining Liverpool in the summer but ruled out the possibility of the player moving in the current window. Here is what he said in total:

“Not for January, but I think this is something that could happen in the summer. He is one of the players they really appreciate and was already on Liverpool’s list before he joined Wolves. They have a very good relationship with his agent.”

Nunes to the Reds?

The current lot of midfielders is consistently failing to gain enough control over the passage of play and that is putting the rest of the team in an undesirable situation. The position we are in is understandable as it is totally the management’s fault to not replace an ageing midfield squad with youngsters who could propel the team to success.

A player like Nunes is capable of providing the immediate results the team presently needs. Moreover, at 24, he is a player for the future as well. He ticks two of the boxes Liverpool need him to, and hopefully, he joins the Reds at the earliest to relieve the fans of having to watch us play with an ageing midfield.

Overall, signing a young midfielder including the likes of Nunes, or even Jude Bellingham for that matter would be a smart move for Liverpool as it would help the team to build for the future while also addressing their current needs.

In 19 appearances so far for the Wolves across all competitions, he only has an assist to his name. If we could get the player on board at Merseyside, we could help revive his form, and mainly, ours too.

More Liverpool News:

As per The Telegraph, any move for the player could set Liverpool back by £44m and thereabouts. Given the urgent need for reinforcements, we are better off pre-empting our move to the coming weeks.
