In a boost for Liverpool, according to Fabrizio Romano via his Twitter, Brazilian international Roberto Firmino could be open to extending his contract at Anfield.
There has been much uncertainty regarding Firmino’s contract situation in recent months with his current contract at the club set to expire at the end of the season (Transfermarkt).
Many top clubs, including the likes of Juventus, have enquired about the possibility of signing the Brazilian but it seems that both the player and the club are keen to continue the relationship.
It is indeed delightful news as Firmino has been a very good servant for the club and an integral figure in the rise of Liverpool’s dominance under Jurgen Klopp.
In spite of added competition in the forward department which has resulted in Firmino getting less game-time, no fuss has been created by the player or his representative proving why letting go on a free could turn out to be a huge mistake.
Especially in a season of surprises such as the current one, we need every single available in our fight for a top-four finish and Firmino with his wealth of experience can add value to the young players making their way up.
At 31 years of age, the forward still has good years left in him and would provide us with another option for the bench, capable of changing games on its own. He is also someone who now knows the club inside out, and will be an asset on and off the pitch for us.
Hopefully, the parties are able to agree on a contract extension soon so that plans for the team for next season could be laid in place. With claims
that Liverpool will go big for a top midfielder, keeping hold of all the top talent is also a necessity and an extension of Firmino’s contract is definitely one of them.Alberto Moleiro could be on his way to Liverpool for a throwaway price Liverpool and…
