“I’m very focused”- Premier League midfielder reveals current priority amidst Liverpool interest

Alexis Mac Allister doubles down on transfer stance amid Liverpool links

Recently, Brighton and Hove Albion’s attacking midfielder Alexis Mac Allister spoke about his future with the club and stated that he is very happy at The Amex. He is completely focused on helping the Seagulls despite interest from Liverpool.

One of the best performers for Argentina in the World Cup, Mac Allister was extremely essential in his country’s successful World Cup campaign. The player will very soon lock horns with the Reds in the FA Cup Fourth Round game at the Amex.

One of Liverpool’s other transfer targets, Sofyan Amrabat also recently talked about how he does not wish to move from Fiorentina, and now adding Mac Allister to the same list, the Reds will need to have a broader view of the available options if they wish to secure a transfer.

Speaking to ITV (h/t Liverpool Echo) ahead of the fourth-round encounter, Mac Allister was once again asked about the speculation surrounding his future. And here is what he said:

“I’m fine, I always say I’m focused here in Brighton, this is the club who helped me become a better player, better human-being.

“I’m not rushed to leave, I try not to read or hear too much but as I say, I’m very focused here. I’m looking forward to the weekend.”

Mac Allister to the Reds?

One option for Liverpool would be to continue pursuing Mac Allister. Despite the midfielder’s statement, it is not uncommon for a player to change their mind about a move. Furthermore, Liverpool is a club with a rich history and a huge fan base, and the opportunity to play for such a club could be too good for Mac Allister to pass up.

Another option for Liverpool would be to look at other targets. The Reds have a visible lack of depth and they would be wise to have a view at other players available in the transfer market as well. The current lack of depth is certainly hurting the Reds a lot and adding to the squad would be great for the Reds at this point in time.

However, Liverpool should be careful not to overspend on any player in a rush, as they will not want to put their financial stability at risk and carry another risk of not having enough funds in the summer to carry out the transfer of their primary target Jude Bellingham in the summer.

More Liverpool News:

In any case, the Reds’ target should be getting the better of the Albion in the FA Cup after displaying a lacklustre performance against the same opposition in the league at the same venue not more than 15 days ago, which ended 3-0 in Roberto de Zerbi’s favour.
