“World-class player”- Legendary Premier League manager believer Liverpool star has rediscovered his mojo

Arsene Wenger feels Mohamed Salah back to his best for Liverpool against Everton

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels Mohamed Salah was back to his best for Liverpool in the 2-0 win over Everton.

The Toffees visited Anfield on Monday (13 February) in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s team went on to get a victory, with the Egypt international getting on the scoresheet.

Speaking after the Merseyside derby on beIN Sports (h/t Mirror), Wenger, who spent 22 years in the Gunners’ dugout, believes the 30-year-old showed the full extent of his talent against the Goodison Park side.

“Tonight was the first time I’ve seen him again as we know him – a world-class player, deadly in finishing. He still missed two or three chances, but he scored the opener. That will give him confidence.

“We’ll see now how he continues. Overall, it was an important night for Salah.”

In the current campaign, Liverpool have not been at their best. The Reds have struggled to perform in the English top flight as well as in the domestic cup competitions.

While Salah has posted good numbers this season, he has not influenced games as much as in past years. As a result, the Anfield side have looked rather toothless in front of the goal.

The Egyptian signed for the Merseyside outfit in the summer of 2017. Immediately, the 30-year-old took the PL by storm in his debut campaign in Klopp’s team.

Season after season, Liverpool have been able to rely on Salah to contribute majorly in the attacking third. And the Egyptian has not let us down for most of his time at the club.

However, the 30-year-old seems a bit off the build this term. In 32 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, the forward has found the back of the net 18 times and has provided seven assists.

At the moment, the Anfield side are way off the pace in the league. A top-four finish in the current campaign looks like a difficult task. Hopefully, Salah will be able to find his feet once again and help us achieve our targets by the end of the season.
