Liverpool get Jude Bellingham boost as Real Madrid take their interests elsewhere
Liverpool have been in search of a young and talented midfielder for quite some time now, and their pursuit of Jude Bellingham may have just received a significant boost. Recent reports suggest that Real Madrid has turned their attention towards Bruno Guimaraes, which implies that Liverpool could be leading the race for the Dortmund star.
Football Insider via Liverpool Echo write that Los Blancos are unwilling to spend big money on the 19-year-old and have turned their attention towards Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes. Moreover, Real have a great pool of talented midfielders at their club presently and do not necessarily need a new midfielder.
On the other hand, Liverpool are in desperate need of a young midfielder, and Jude Bellingham could stand as the perfect fit for the club’s style of play. He is a versatile midfielder who can play in multiple positions, including his natural central midfield and the deep-lying midfield role.
Liverpool’s current midfield options include the likes of Fabinho, Curtis Jones, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara, all of whom are above the age of 30 bar the Brazilian and Jones. The club obviously needs to plan for the future and bring in a young midfielder who can learn from these experienced players and eventually take over their roles in the team.
Bellingham boost for the Reds
Harvey Elliott is not necessarily a midfielder and could be used in right-wing in the long-term whereas Fabio Carvalho does not play central midfield as he is a 10 who does not drop deep. Other options like Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain obviously do not have a long-term future at the club.
Liverpool’s midfield has lacked creativity this season, with the club struggling to create chances. Bellingham’s attacking instincts and ability to create chances could certainly provide the much-needed spark to Liverpool’s midfield, and obviously, help the team in its pursuit of domestic and European honours.
While Real Madrid may not be interested in pursuing Bellingham due to their existing midfield options and financial reasons, Liverpool should not take their pursuit of the young midfielder lightly.
Other clubs, including Manchester City and Manchester United, have also stood linked with the player, and Liverpool need to act fast if they want to secure his services. Hopefully, he goes nowhere but Merseyside.
