“I’m not afraid of being sacked”- Jurgen Klopp makes bullish claim ahead of Liverpool vs Chelsea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he’s not afraid of the sack

Following the sacking of two Premier League managers in one day, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had a chuckle in his recent press conference and spoke about how he doesn’t stand afraid of the sack and the risk of losing his job. Chelsea manager Graham Potter and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers both saw the axe on the same day. (h/t The Mirror)

Both clubs were not where they ideally wanted to be and understandably, both Potter and Rodgers saw the sack. Speaking of Liverpool though, even we are not in the position we likely want to be in. Sitting in eighth place with 11 games left in the league campaign is certainly not ideal for a club like Liverpool.

However, Klopp is a total class apart and cannot stand compared with the likes of Potter and Rodgers. The German has won Liverpool every possible trophy and a season of tough times doesn’t and shouldn’t undermine his time at the club. However, a section of people, called the manager out, and a few even called for him to leave the club.

As earlier mentioned in the piece, there is not a lot of time left and the Reds need to get going almost immediately to try and strengthen their chances of a finish in any of the UCL spots. Moreover, the way Arsenal and Manchester City are playing at the moment, only two spots are up for grabs and that is what the Reds should aim for.

Jurgen isn’t afraid of the sack

However, Klopp stands aware that he is in the position he is in because of his previous success at the club and is also aware that he is responsible for the ongoing at the club and knows that he has to deliver results sooner than later. Here is what he said via liverpool.com:

“I am aware I am sitting here because of the past, not what we did this season. Yes, we have smart owners who know about the situation. I’m not afraid of being sacked no. I am not here as a mural, I am here to deliver.”

While Klopp’s job may not be in immediate danger, the importance of securing Champions League football for next season cannot be overstated. Not only would it bring in much-needed revenue for the club, but it would also help attract top-tier players to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

The final stretch of the season will be crucial for Liverpool. The team must stay focused and disciplined, avoiding the costly mistakes that have plagued them in recent weeks. If they can secure a spot in the Champions League, it will go a long way in restoring confidence and pride to the club.

Klopp and his players will undoubtedly be doing everything in their power to finish the season on a high and set the stage for a successful campaign next year.
