Tottenham enter the race for Liverpool target Nayef Aguerd

Liverpool FC’s defensive line has been a major topic of discussion in recent times. The poor form of some of the club’s defenders has put the Reds in a difficult situation, with the club reportedly looking for a new centre-back to shore up their backline. Now, it seems that Liverpool will face competition from Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Nayef Aguerd from West Ham.

According to Jeunes Footeux via ECHO, West Ham could demand up to £53m for the Moroccan international. Aguerd joined West Ham in a £30m deal from Rennes back in June and has been a regular starter for the Hammers since his return from injury.

The potential signing of Aguerd could obviously provide a much-needed boost to Liverpool’s struggling defence. Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, and Virgil van Dijk have all been in poor form this season, leading to concerns over the solidity of Liverpool’s backline.

Liverpool’s defence has been a major talking point this season, with the Reds struggling to keep clean sheets and conceding goals at an alarming rate. The addition of a quality centre-back like Aguerd could be just what the club needs to shore up their defence and certainly get back to winning ways.

Aguerd to the Reds?

Aguerd is known for his physicality and aerial ability, which could make him a valuable addition to Liverpool’s squad. We have seen what the player is capable of during the World Cup and would hope that he joins the Reds, as they look to compete for the title once again.

The potential signing of Aguerd would also add much-needed depth to Liverpool’s squad. With injuries and poor form plaguing the club’s defence this season, having a reliable backup option would certainly be a major advantage.

Liverpool’s defensive struggles have obviously been a cause for concern for manager Jurgen Klopp, who has been vocal about his desire to strengthen the team’s defence. The addition of Aguerd would be a step in the right direction for the Reds and could help them get back to their best.

Spurs’ reported interest in Aguerd could make it difficult for Liverpool to secure the defender’s signature. However, the Reds certainly have a strong reputation and a proven track record of success, which could give them an edge in the race for the Moroccan international.
