Fabrizio Romano denies agreement between Barcelona and Liverpool star Roberto Firmino

According to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Barcelona have not yet reached an agreement with Liverpool ace Roberto Firmino regarding a summer switch.

The Brazilian has been one of Jurgen Klop’s most important players over the last few years and was central to the club winning it all under the German. His contract is up in the summer and is expected to leave the club a legend.

As of yet, there is no information as to where Firmino will move to. Given that he still has much to offer, there should not be any dearth of options.

One of the clubs keeping tabs on Firmino is Barcelona. While the Spanish giants look likely to win La Liga, they still have many gaps that need to be filled in the roster next summer.

Despite being 31, Firmino would be an excellent addition for free and can even thrive at a club of Barcelona’s calibre. It was reported earlier yesterday that the Brazilian had agreed to join Barcelona. Romano has now poured cold water on the news.

The Italian goes on to add that while Barcelona have some semblance of interest in Firmino, it is far from concrete. The Catalans are currently eyeing deals for Inigo Martinez, Ilkay Gundogan and Lionel Messi. If anything, Fimino is at best, the fourth priority.

The Liverpool star has little to worry about as there are other offers on the table. While there is a lack of clarity of which teams these exactly are, he is unlikely to be forced into taking a deal he does not want.

Firmino is currently injured and is set to miss the next three games for Liverpool. Thankfully he will return for the final few games of the season and get a proper chance to say goodbye to an adoring Anfield faithful.
