Transfer News: Roberto Firmino has ‘agreed’ to leave Liverpool for Barcelona
An exclusive report from the Daily Mail has claimed that Roberto Firmino ‘has agreed’ to join Barcelona on a free transfer from Liverpool this summer.
The Brazilian is expected to end his eight-year association with the Reds at the end of the season and leave as a free agent. He is apparently not going to sign a new deal at Liverpool.
As a result, Barcelona have been linked with a move for him. They have had a penchant for making free transfers in recent years and Firmino could be a superb coup in that regard.
He has the skill set to play as a centre-forward, false nine, second striker and attacking midfielder. Firmino would also offer much-needed competition and backup for 34-year-old Robert Lewandowski.
Farewell, Bobby
It isn’t uncommon for South American players to harbour dreams of representing Real Madrid or Barcelona. We found that out with Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez.
Fans have come to terms with the fact that the 31-year-old would be leaving the club this summer. His next destination, if it is indeed Barcelona, would not be of much harm to the Reds.
It can come to bite us if the two teams meet in European competitions, although our top-four hopes are hanging in the balance. The Reds would be wise to sign a new player this summer to replace Firmino in the team.

He has been a regular feature in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side ever since the German came here and one can imagine that he would want to fill the void that Firmino leaves – if he hasn’t already in his mind with Cody Gakpo or Darwin Nunez.
