Konate, Jota, Keita – Jurgen Klopp provides Liverpool injury update for Tottenham clash

Jurgen Klopp expects Liverpool star to recover for Tottenham clash following back injury against West Ham

According to the club’s official site, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided the latest injury update on his team ahead of their clash vs Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

The Reds face an uphill task in their bid to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The best they can do is win their games and hope others fall off. Getting one over Tottenham would do us good heading into the final lap of the season.

Injuries have been a major reason for our struggles and having players back certainly makes life easier. One player who has discovered his best again of late is Diogo Jota

The striker has four goals in his last three outings. As per Klopp, Jota picked up a back injury in the 2-1 win over West Ham United midweek. Thankfully it does not appear to be serious and should be in contention to face Spurs at least off the bench.

“Diogo got a bad knock in his back but should be alright, we will see how that developed. Apart from that we should be OK.”

One player who is set to come back into the team is Ibrahima Konate. Arguably our most consistent centre-back this season, it has been an injury-ravaged campaign for the Frenchman. Having him back will certainly see us shut up shop better at the back.

“Ibou will be back. I guess Naby will train today – I didn’t get the medical report yet, but probably. Ox is in training.”

Liverpool will also welcome back Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to training. Neither player looks set to return to action and are expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

With Cody Gakpo looking lively and Darwin Nunez slowly yet steadily improving, the coming games can act as a stepping stone for a renewed push for the title next season.

Tottenham can be a dangerous side on their day and Liverpool cannot afford to take the result for granted. Securing a win will see us leap-log them into the fifth spot.
