Neil Ruddock identifies Liverpool as the perfect fit for Declan Rice
Former Liverpool defender Neil Ruddock has voiced his opinion on the potential destination for West Ham United’s star midfielder, Declan Rice.
When asked about which club would suit Declan Rice best amid his links with Liverpool following ECHO suggesting a West Ham exit, Ruddock unhesitatingly responded with his beloved Liverpool.
While acknowledging his bias towards the Reds, Ruddock believes that Rice’s skill set and style of play would make him a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side. According to Ruddock, Liverpool’s squad would greatly benefit from Rice’s presence, and the fans would undoubtedly adore him.
Here is what Ruddock had to say speaking on talkSPORT’s Youtube channel on Rice possibly standing in as the right fit for the Reds:
“Liverpool. Obviously, I’m biased towards Liverpool, and Tottenham and Millwall, but I don’t think he’s going to play for those two. Liverpool are crying out for him, he’d fit in, they’d love him. He can be the new Steven Gerrard, and what a thing to be.”
Rice to the Reds?
Ruddock went as far as drawing comparisons to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, suggesting that Rice could be the new embodiment of the iconic midfielder. Rice’s versatility and tactical intelligence make him an attractive prospect for Liverpool.
The 24-year-old has excelled in a defensive midfield role for West Ham but has also showcased his capabilities as a centre-back for both club and country in the odd game here and there.
While West Ham would be reluctant to let go of their prized asset for cheap, Liverpool’s allure and ambition could prove decisive. Ultimately, the decision lies with Rice and the clubs involved in any potential transfer.
Liverpool’s reported interest in the midfielder, combined with Ruddock’s ringing endorsement, adds fuel to the speculation surrounding a possible move to Merseyside. However, it would obviously take more than that to bring Rice to Anfield.
As the transfer window approaches, Liverpool fans will eagerly follow any developments regarding Rice even though the move seems extremely unlikely.
