Liverpool are linked with striker Marcus Thuram who is available for free this summer
As per Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are linked with a move for French striker Marcus Thuram who is available on a free transfer this summer.
Thuram allowed his contract to expire at Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of the season. Hence, he is in the market with clubs vying for his signature.
A few weeks ago, Daily Mail revealed that Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are in the race to sign the 25-year-old. The latest is that French champions Paris-Saint Germain want to sign him, which is always a threat for other teams, especially considering they offer him a route back to his homeland.
Marcus’ brother, Khephren, is linked with a move to Liverpool as the Reds aim to bolster their midfield department. The contact with the latter’s agent took place this week.
Regarding Marcus, he is an excellent striker who would do well for any top team in Europe. He has an easy game of making the right movements in the opposition box and finishing most of the chances off.
But, having spent a lot of money in signing Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo to upgrade the forward line in the last 18 months, Liverpool’s focus for the coming transfer window must be signing midfielders and a defender or two.
Granted that Marcus is a free agent, but the wages still need to be paid. The Reds can save that money and probably buy another midfielder or defender.
The summer window is about to make a great start as Alexis Mac Allister is set to undergo the medical with Liverpool ahead of a potential deal signing this week. The Argentine wants to make the move confirmed before he joins the national team on June 10.
