Manchester United legend Gary Neville says Liverpool signings have been clever and feels they will explore January window

Manchester United legend Gary Neville feels Liverpool will once again explore the January transfer window, as they will look to reinforce some areas to continue their title charge.

The former Manchester United captain has also lauded the Reds’ clever transfer strategy, where they have been low-key while making transfers under Jurgen Klopp.

We can agree with Neville because, despite signing big stars, we have done some great business. Alexis MacAllister is just another example. We signed him for a low fee, and when we joined Chelsea for the acquisition of Moises Caicedo, we forced the Blues to pay a huge amount for the midfielder.

These strategies have been great for us, and we should look to reinforce some areas. The defence should be our priority because we don’t have quality centre-backs besides Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Joel Matip.

Neville has since made a similar claim, stating that our transfer policy has been rather quiet because we don’t make many announcements throughout the transfer window and we make discreet signings. Neville further told Sky Sports:

“I was just talking in the press lounge and wondering whether Liverpool might just have a sneaky dabble in the transfer market in January. They won’t announce it because they’re really clever and they won’t want other clubs to know they’re desperate, and they’ve been very clever in the transfer market over the last few years under Jurgen Klopp.”

“I wonder whether they think adding something to their squad could make a difference, as it’s [the Premier League title] up for grabs.”

We don’t have a lot of options at the back, so if we want to continue our title charge, we need to buy an experienced defender. Now with Mohamed Salah’s two-month absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations, Klopp will need to find a solution because Salah has been playing at an incredible level this season and we will need an impactful player to operate from right-wing.
