Liverpool wants Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo as the successor to their Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah

Liverpool are targeting Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo as the successor for their legendary forward Mohamed Salah. Salah, a pivotal part of Liverpool’s success this season, currently suffers from an injury incurred during international duties.

The Egypt captain has continued his prolific form despite the change in his style of play this season. Salah has relied more on his playmaking abilities than dribbling and using pace to beat defenders. However, the Reds need a plan considering that the 31-year-old is currently at the late stage of his career.

Kubo is having a sensational season with Sociedad in La Liga, attracting interest from many top clubs in the process. The Japanese international is currently serving his national side in the Asian Cup under the leadership of Wataru Endo.

The Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that the Reds have expressed interest in signing Kubo from Sociedad in the upcoming summer window. The 22-year-old has a release clause of 60 million euros, making him an exceptionally good bargain in the inflated market.

The 22-year-old has made 25 appearances for Sociedad this season, contributing with six goals and four assists in all competitions. He has played dominantly as a right winger but also features behind the main striker and as a centre-forward.

The Japanese have the versatility to play at any position in the attack line, like the attack department at Liverpool. He is dominantly a left-footer with the low centre of gravity giving him balance and close control of the ball.

The 22-year-old uses pace, trickery and directness to dribble past his opponents in close quarters or during one-on-one duels. His finishing is still raw but has a fantastic technique and accuracy, suggesting a lot of room for development.

Kubo has the creativity to be a threat on the ball around the channels and attacking third. He uses good decision-making and game intelligence to continuously cause havoc in the opposition’s defence.

Kubo can be a marquee signing for the Reds in the summer, depending on the manager who would take over the club from our beloved manager Jurgen Klopp.
