Liverpool star shares reason why he rejected offers from Chelsea and Manchester United
Liverpool star, Fabio Carvalho was wanted by the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea before the Reds got his hands on him. The now 21-year-old forward was highly rated while he was a youth prospect deciding on his future.
Carvalho took sessions with both the Red Devils and the Blues before he made his decision to join Fulham as a young player. He says that Fulham’s facilities and promises fit much better than what the other teams were offering him at the time.
The Liverpool star’s trajectory might’ve been completely different if he had been scooped up by the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United. Here’s what he had to say when asked about talking about rejecting the two teams. (h/t Liverpool.com)
“United came down and offered me a contract but I just didn’t think it was the right thing for me to do, to move away from my family there and then.”
“So then it came down to Chelsea and Fulham”then Fulham came calling. They offered me schooling which was very important for my parents, and I think that’s what kind of sealed the deal.”
So if either United or Chelsea had offered schooling to young Carvalho they could’ve had another gem coming out of their youth academy. The 21-year-old star added that it all worked out in the end and he’s thankful for how things have gone.
Carvalho is currently on his second loan spell of the season. He spent the first half with RB Leipzig and is currently playing for Hull City. He has made 35 appearances recording nine goals and two assists this season.
The 21-year-old will be returning to Anfield at the end of this summer. The team will be undergoing some massive changes, it’ll be interesting to see whether Arne Slot finds a place for Carvalho in his team next season.
