Gary Neville draws parallels between Kai Havertz and Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino

Arsenal’s Kai Havertz is turning heads and drawing comparisons to none other than Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino. The lad’s been putting in some top-notch performances for the Gunners, and his latest outing against Manchester United was no exception.

His goal against Erik ten Hag’s side takes him to 12 Premier League goals this season. There’s no denying he has been great for the Gunners. Gary Neville has been singing his praises, reckoning that Havertz is following in Firmino’s footsteps. You know, dropping deep, linking up play, and posing a threat in front of goal. But here’s the thing – he’s all about the team, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Sounds a lot like Bobby, doesn’t it? Here is what the former United captain had to say via The Mirror:

“He drops in, he links the play, he provides a goal threat. But he’s subservient to the team, he’ll do whatever the team needs during a game. Remember for large parts of this season there were large question marks over Havertz, but he’s become a really important figure.”

“I used to think that Firmino was a wonderful player for Liverpool. [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah used to get all the main plaudits and the credit. And that’s right, but I always used to mention Firmino because of the way he played, connecting midfield with the attack. Havertz is doing something similar.”

Firmino, man, he was the unsung hero of Liverpool’s glory days under Klopp. Sure, Mane and Salah got all the headlines, but Bobby was the glue that held it all together. His work rate, his selflessness, it was all top-notch stuff. And while his stats are nothing to sniff at; 111 goals, 75 assists – they don’t quite capture the essence of the man.

The ultimate pressing machine, Roberto Firmino.

Si Señor

Firmino’s magic lies in the intangibles, the stuff you can’t quite put into words. First off, let’s talk about his work rate. Bobby’s the kind of player who never stops running, who never gives up on a lost cause. He’s the engine of that Liverpool team, the guy who sets the tempo, who leads by example. You want passion? Bobby’s got it in abundance. You want commitment? Look no further. The man bleeds Liverpool red, through and through.

Then there’s his vision, his creativity, his sheer footballing intelligence. Bobby’s not your typical striker – he’s a playmaker, a maestro, a conductor orchestrating the symphony that is Liverpool’s attack. His ability to drop deep, to link up play, to carve open defences with a flick of his boot – it’s pure magic, mate. And let’s not forget his flair, his audacity, his sheer cheekiness. It really means a thing or two when his signature finish is a no-look, mate.

But perhaps most importantly, there’s his selflessness, his humility and his team-first mentality. Sure, Mane and Salah got all the headlines, but Bobby was the glue that held it all together. His work rate, his selflessness, it was all top-notch stuff.

He was too special a player for us.

Now, let’s talk about Kai Havertz. The lad’s got talent – there’s no denying that. He’s been turning heads with his performances for Arsenal, and Gary Neville’s comparison to Firmino is certainly high praise. But let’s be real here – he’s still a long way off from being mentioned in the same breath as Bobby Firmino. And that’s not a knock on Havertz – far from it. The lad’s got potential, no doubt about it. But Bobby Firmino? He’s in a league of his own.

Until Havertz can match Firmino’s passion, his skill, his sheer presence on the pitch, he’s got some way to go. But hey, there’s no shame in aspiring to be like Bobby Firmino – he’s set the bar pretty darn high. As the saying goes, “There’s something that the Kop wants you to know. The best in the world, his name is Bobby Firmino.”
