Liverpool, what a team! What a transformation under the Dutchman! Arne’s Slot machine is truly running. After Thursday’s thrilling clash against the former champions at Anfield, where the Reds silenced Los Blancos with a dominant performance, it’s hard not to believe that a treble is within their reach. The team looks near perfect right now, but Liverpool aren’t stopping there. They’re now targeting another player, one who’s making waves and attracting interest from other Premier League clubs.

Liverpool may soon look to strengthen their Hungarian presence at Anfield by targeting Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.

While the Reds already have a solid depth of options in the position, with Kostas Tsimikas serving as a reliable backup to Andy Robertson, and the promising Luke Chambers (20) highly rated within the club, the prospect of a future succession plan is becoming increasingly important. With Robertson set to turn 31 next year, it’s understandable that Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are now turning their attention to potential long-term solutions.

Liverpool looking to beat United to Milos Kerkez signing

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that several Premier League clubs are showing interest in the Bournemouth left-back, with Liverpool among them. The Reds could potentially edge out Manchester United in the race for his signature. While United are reportedly more focused on Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, it remains unclear whether they will make any progress in that pursuit.

The 2003-born defender joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2023 and is already well-acquainted with Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, who brought him to the Cherries during his time on the south coast. In his debut season with Andoni Iraola’s side, the  £30,000 gross per week registered just one assist in 33 appearances across all competitions. However, he has already surpassed that total, with two assists in 12 Premier League appearances in the 2024/25 season. While he has the potential to contribute creatively, Kerkez still has a way to go before matching the world-class output of Andy Robertson.

While Arne Slot will be hoping for an improvement in Kerkez’s ball control to fit into Liverpool’s possession-based style, his current pass completion rate, which sits in the 38th percentile, will need work. Given Bournemouth’s more direct approach, it’s understandable, but the young defender will need to adapt quickly if he’s to make a successful transition to Liverpool.
