Liverpool star Cody Gakpo stole the spotlight once again with an outstanding performance against Ipswich Town in the 4-1 victory. The Reds beat the Tractor Boys to secure three points in the Premier League and maintain their gap over Arsenal.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has used Gakpo solely as the left-winger while shifting Luis Diaz to the centre-forward position. Last season, Gakpo struggled with consistency under the legendary former manager Jurgen Klopp as he played in multiple different positions.

Klopp accepted the responsibility for the Dutchman’s inconsistency, highlighting that he barely played in his preferred left-wing role for Liverpool. Nevertheless, since the March international break of 2024, the 25-year-old has played on the left and delivered with incredible consistency.

The Dutchman has played a pivotal role, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists from 32 matches in all competitions. Gakpo has a big role to play in the latter half of the season as Liverpool pushes forward for trophies.

Fotmob revealed the overall sensation performance from Gakpo for Liverpool against Ipswich apart from his two goals and an assist. Gakpo enjoyed 88% passing accuracy from 26 passes, creating one big chance with one accurate cross and 67% shot accuracy.

The 25-year-old took 45 touches out of which he only had three touches within the opposition box during the game. This showcases his desire to exploit the outside channels against the low block, letting other attackers congest the opposition box.

Gakpo also enjoyed 67% successful dribbles (three), winning five out of nine duels in his all-round performance at the left wing. The Dutch international also completed four defensive actions and made two recoveries to help the Reds defend from counter-attacks.

Slot substituted Gakpo in the 68th minute to give him a well-deserved rest ahead of the game against his former club, PSV Eindhoven. The Reds will face in-form Bournemouth in the Premier League clash after battling PSV in the Champions League.
