Liverpool making advanced move for £40m Robertson successor

Liverpool are working in advance to secure the signing of Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez during the upcoming summer transfer window. The Reds have highlighted Kerkez as the perfect option to succeed Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas to bring some stability.
Liverpool have struggled to maintain the formidable form that their defence showed during the first half of the current season. The Reds have frequently conceded goals since December of 2024, costing them multiple competitions in recent weeks.
Liverpool suffered an elimination from the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain and a Carabao Cup final loss against Newcastle United. The Reds have suffered the same fate two seasons in a row under the guidance of two different world-class coaches.

During the 2023-24 season, Liverpool suffered a similar drastic drop in form late in the season, costing them numerous trophies. With no recruitment during the summer of 2024, it is clear that the Reds need to back Arne Slot.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool are already working to secure the signing of Bournemouth left-back Kerkez during the summer. Liverpool needs to make changes after two seasons of inconsistency and issues with nagging injuries for Tsimikas and Robertson.
Kerkez has played a pivotal role for the Cherries this season, helping them reach 10th place in the Premier League. Bournemouth’s impressive season puts them five points away from the top four places with intense ongoing Premier League competition.
The 21-year-old has played regularly for the Cherries, scoring two goals and providing five assists in the Premier League. The Hungary international has incredible stamina and desire to work hard for his team, constantly participating in duels.
Kerkez is equally competent in possession, using his pace and ability to drive forward while combining it with his technique. Kerkez’s complete style of play favours the profile that Slot desires in his fullback as he could fulfil various roles.

The 21-year-old is a fantastic competition for Robertson who could potentially stabilize the left side of the Liverpool defence for years. Fichajes revealed that the Cherries are demanding a fee close to £40 million, a reasonable sum for an in-form Premier League defender at such a young age.
