Liverpool are planning to sign Bournemouth duo Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen during the summer to rectify their defensive woes. Both Kerkez and Huijsen have played a pivotal role for Bournemouth as they currently lie eighth in the Premier League.

Huijsen quickly established himself as a first-team regular for the Cherries after joining them from Juventus in the 2024 summer. The 20-year-old has attracted interest from several top European clubs after rapidly improving with consistent experience in the Premier League.

Standing at 1.97 metres, Huijsen has an imposing figure and maturity to read the game well and perform defensive duties. The 20-year-old is comfortable with the ball at his feet, applying his distribution skills in the buildup play for Bournemouth.

Liverpool wants Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth to solve their defensive issues.

Huijsen has two goals and one assist from 31 games in all competitions for Bournemouth this season, maintaining his presence. The Spaniard’s capacity for winning ground and aerial duels while maintaining his discipline is something that Liverpool lacks in defence.

Liverpool have Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez as the defensive options besides their first-choice centre-backs, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk. Arne Slot has not trusted Quansah enough, while Gomez remains injury-prone, which has overburdened Konate and captain Van Dijk. The situation has caused fatigue that has played a critical role in their losses in the cup competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Liverpool faces a major issue at the left-back position, with poor form displayed by their available options this season. While Andy Robertson continues to regress with age, Kostas Tsimikas has failed to establish himself as the Reds’ first-choice left-back.

At the same time, Kerkez has enjoyed a fantastic season with Bournemouth, dominating all phases at the left flank for them. The 21-year-old displayed energy, pace, technical quality and capacity to make defensive recoveries regularly for his team.

The Hungary international has two goals and six assists from 36 games in all competitions for the Cherries this season. According to Fichajes, Liverpool wants both Kerkez and Huijsen from Bournemouth during the summer transfer window.
