Stan Collymore tells Liverpool to sign Leeds star Raphinha to put pressure on contract rebel Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah is yet to renew his contract at Liverpool that expires in the summer of 2023, and Liverpool icon Stan Collymore has urged his former club to sign Raphinha to deal with this situation.
Collymore, who signed for the Reds in 1995, believes that for one, signing the Leeds United star will ‘put a bit of pressure’ on the Egyptian star. And secondly, it can future-proof Liverpool to a great extent (h/t the Mirror).
“[If Liverpool] were to get Raphinha and tell him to watch Salah for the next year, not only will he learn but it would also put Mo under a nice bit of pressure to make him think, ‘Am I going to stay or am I going to go’?”
Wage demands from both Sadio Mane and Salah have troubled LFC in recent months as they looked to tie down their star wingers to new deals. While the Senegalese opted to join Bayern Munich this summer, Salah could be headed for the exit door next year.
“But he has rapid pace, amazing skills and ability, and he can be polished to score more goals and get more assists. If Klopp can do that then, all of a sudden, by this time next year, Liverpool could have an all-new front three and it will be as if people have blinked and not even noticed, which would be amazing.”
Collymore makes sense with his comments. The Reds can’t be held hostage by anyone, even if it is one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
There is no doubt that the former AS Roma and Chelsea star is one of the world’s best in his position right now. But if we can’t come to an agreement with him, it’s better to move on.
There was life after Kenny Dalglish left and the Reds survived after Luis Suarez departed for Barcelona. Liverpool as a club will not stop fighting for titles no matter who leaves the club.
Our history, culture, and tradition compel this great club to keep getting back up and be at the pinnacle of football. Raphinha, in this regard, could be the next step in our evolution.
If the Reds pay heed to Collymore’s advice, they would get themselves one of the most exciting wingers in the PL. The 25-year-old Raphinha is, to be honest, too good to be fighting for PL safety at Leeds United.

Him playing under a coach like Klopp would be a match made in heaven, at least that’s what our fans will tell you. But it seems like interest from Chelsea, Barcelona, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur would mean the road to signing the Brazil international is filled with hurdles.
