Liverpool star urges seniors to step up and answer the call as the Arne Slot era beckons
Liverpool are headed for uncertainty after almost nine years of having Jurgen Klopp to fall back on. The German manager made his last appearance as the Reds’ coach last night. Now, Arne Slot prepares to step in his shoes and lead the team to glory.
However, with the arrival of a new coach, there will surely be a ton of changes around Anfield. The team that Klopp is leaving for the Dutch manager could look very different by the time the next season kicks off.
There is also the question of how well the players will mesh with Slot. Liverpool ace, Alisson Becker believes that a huge ‘challenge’ is coming and has already called up the leaders of the group to come forward and lead the team. Here’s what he had to say. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
“Now we have a huge challenge in front of us, change of manager, we don’t know too much about him but I’m sure he’ll work a lot to put his mentality across.”
“Nothing is guaranteed in the Premier League, you have to be competitive, you have to be at the top and perform in a way that you can achieve things.”
Alisson is anticipating some rocky times ahead of the team, but he is still optimistic about the future. The Brazilian goalkeeper added that Slot knows what kind of players he’s getting, the kind who are competitive and wish to win trophies.
The goal for next season will not change, the Reds will come forward and try to get their hands on every trophy possible. However, the methods that Slot takes to win games will be completely alien to the players and that could lead to friction.
It is up to the leaders of the group to maintain a certain level of discipline after Klopp leaves. As long as the team sticks together and works with Arne, they can go out and compete at a high level next season.
