27 year-old American born Italian international striker Giuseppe Rossi of Fiorentina is the latest attacking player to be linked with Liverpool as the search for Luis Suarez’ replacement goes on. The Italian striker who was controversially left out of the 23-man Azzurri squad has been linked with the Merseyside Reds as the summer transfer window of 2014 heads into it’s final couple of weeks.

The former Manchester United striker currently plies his trade in the Serie A with Fiorentina. The injury-prone attacker netted 16 goals in 22 league appearances for Fiorentina as his side made a last dash for the last Champions League spot in the Serie A campaign last season. A prolific striker in every sense of the word, Rossi has been very unfortunate with a few serious injuries that has stunted his career from really taking off. Since joining for Villareal in 2013, Rossi has been among the highest scorers in the Serie A. Controversially left out by former Italian manager Cesare Prandelli – Giuseppe Rossi will be out to show what the former Italian boss missed out on after being dropped from the squad that travelled to Brazil.

This might be a gamble for Brendan Rodgers but one worth taking.

A quality striker with a wand of a left foot, the 27 year-old Italian is often spoken about only in relation to the injuries that have ruined his career. An astute professional and complete attacker, the former Manchester United striker has a lot more to offer to a team.

  1. Goals, Goals and more Goals.
One thing Giuseppe Rossi assures every team he plays for is a more than decent goal return. 16 goals last term for Fiorentina in a mere 22 appearances is proof enough for the diminutive Italian’s goal-scoring credentials.
  2. Complete Attacker
Capable of operating as the frontman, behind the centre forward and also as a second striker – Giuseppe Rossi is a complete package when attacking is concerned. The left footed striker is blessed with an immaculate touch, precision passing and vision that can bring any defence down to their knees. With his calm and composed finishing, Rossi is a complete striker.
  3. Experience
At the age of 27, Rossi is at the peak of his powers. With abundance of experience and talent to back up his unfulfilled potential, Rossi should be among the top strikers in the world by now. Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, the left footed Italian might just find the coach that he needs. An established international, Rossi brings a whole lot of experience along with him to the squad.

If Rodgers can find a way to keep Rossi fit, it won’t take much for the former Manchester United striker to start firing. A risky buy but one that looks more likely to go in favour of the Reds than against them if it does go through. After all even Luis Suarez was a risky buy at the time and look how he turned out to be. With a little bit of luck, Brendan Rodgers can transform this Fiorentina man to a real world class striker at Anfield.
