Daniel Sturridge When Will You Grow Up?

Daniel Sturridge might not have featured very often for Liverpool in the recent past, but the English man is a treat to watch every time he steps on the field. His ability on the ball and his instincts make him one of the top strikers in the league when in action.

The former Chelsea man is in the news for more than his goal scoring abilities this week as fellow country man and sports presenter Richard Keys has revealed that Sturridge was involved in a clash with the erstwhile manager Brendan Rodgers. Post the departure of the magical Luis Suarez, Rodgers offered Sturridge the prestigious number 9 jersey, only for Sturridge to refuse him, which in turn irked the Northern Irishman. The striker believed that the jersey brought added pressure onto him, something he did not want to handle.

“When Suarez left Liverpool Rodgers invited Sturridge to be his new talisman. He offered him the iconic No. 9 jersey and told him to ‘lead from the front’. Sturridge turned him down. I’m told he ‘didn’t want the pressure’.

“I believe that Rodgers lost patience with him, during the conversation in his office, right there and then. I would’ve done too.” said Keys in his personal blog.

In recent times, even current manager Klopp has openly talked about Sturridge and his understanding of “Pain” and “Real Pain”. While we do not doubt his abilities as a team man, some of you might ask “Hey Dan, when will you grow up?”
