Jurgen Klopp has managed to sign his first player for the January transfer window. According to Tukvim, a Turkish source, Kevin Grosskreutz, a German player, has signed a 3 year deal with the Reds and the Merseyside will be announcing the same within 10 days.
Grosskreutz was previously coached by Klopp during his time in Borussia Dortmund. The German was then transferred to Galatasaray in 2015, however, his transfer was dismissed by FIFA due to delay in the submission of the required documents by the Turkish club.
Grosskreutz who plays as a defender (left and right) and midfielder (left, right , centre) has 51 goals to his credit since he started playing in 2006 of which he scored 27 goals while he was playing for Borussia Dortmund. The German will be a good addition in the Anfield with Liverpool struggling defensively.
In some ways this transfer seems like a Klopp’s first step towards his reunion with his former team.
