Why This £37 million Rated Swiss Wiz Can Be A Good Fit At Liverpool

Liverpool have reportedly made Granit Xhaka their No. 1 priority for the summer transfer window. According to the German publication Bild, Klopp met with the agent of the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Andy Gross, in December, to discuss the likelihood of a deal.

The 23-year old recently admitted that it was his childhood dream to play in the premiere league. The English clubs have been scouting this talent since quite some time. Xhaka’s contract with Borussia is up to 2019 and the club clearly mentioned that they are not open to any offers as of now. However, they are expected to listen to many over the course of summer.

The Swiss Wiz joined Gladbach in 2012, arriving as a 19-year-old from FC Basel. The Swiss’ value has been reported

at around £37 million and the big names of English football certainly won’t mind shelling that much on this young talent. Xhaka reiterated he is not actively pursuing a move, though, and added: “I don’t know if it will become an issue. My task is to focus on my football. For as long as I am here, I want to give 100 per cent, the rest will be done by my club and my agent. “

Liverpool although have a very accomplished midfield with the likes of Henderson and Can, the addition of Xhaka will add a lot of finesse and steel to the side. He brings along with him good distribution and solid defense acumen. He is a strong leader and is compared to the likes of a young Bastian Schweinsteiger. The only concern for the Liverpool manager is his ill-discipline.

If this move is to happen, Klopp may think of restructuring his starting 11 and give Coutinho and Milner attacking roles. Liverpool are certainly in need of a strong holding midfielder who can make those tackles and hold the ball in the middle of the park. This will also give some respite for the defenders and a strong foundation can be laid for the future seasons. Considering the vision that the German manager has for the team, Xhaka might just be the signing of the summer for the Reds.
