The premier league season is about to reach its climax and there have been a lot of transfer rumors and speculations running through the media for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp has been quoted with his ambitions for the next season and his game-plan to achieve them. Liverpool are already in talks with Granit Xhaka and if that deal happens the Reds will have a young and a dynamic defensive midfielder. Liverpool are also very optimistic about the deal with Mario Gotze and the German has apparently expressed his wish to work under his ex-manager.

Lucas or Allen – who should stay?

Lucas has been at the club for more than 8 years now and has time and again proved his abilities at Anfield. He might not be the best in the business but his dedication and his commitment is beyond any questions. After the departure of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, the Brazilian midfield enforcer was the one who took the mantle of the defensive midfielder and was supporting Gerrard for many seasons. Lucas has showed a lot of conviction under the new manager. He was asked to play as a center back and he took the responsibility and was very good at the back. However, there have been a lot of questions and rumors on his place in the squad in the future. The reason why Klopp would not want to let him go is that Lucas might just be the perfect backup at the defensive midfield position who could come in very handy as a rotational player. The manager would still want the services of the Brazilian for at least another season.

On the other hand, if we look at Joe Allen, he joined Liverpool from Swansea under the reign of Brendan Rogers. Allen was expected to establish his position and be at the heart of the Liverpool midfield alongside Gerrard. But the young man from Wales was not able to make that mark at Anfield. He was never the continuous first choice player. However, with the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, a lot of improvement was seen in his form and in his overall game. But, his frustration was clearly evident by not getting to start in every game and mostly end up as a substitute. Nick- named as the Welsh Xavi, Allen is certainly looking for more game-time which will be difficult with the likes of Coutinho, Can and Henderson. Klopp might want to let him go this summer and bring in fresh pair of legs to strengthen the midfield.
