12 Goals And 6 Assists: Should Liverpool Sign This 18-Year-Old Sensation?

After a small matter of a European final next week, the focus will shift on the transfer period to bring in the right blend of players who can complement the current squad and can play the Klopp way. Many positions need strengthening and the German must have identified his targets to acquire by now. The services of Marko Grujic and Joel Matip have already been secured for the next season which will be a huge boost for the reds.

Liverpool will offload many players from their ranks and from Klopp’s history at Borussia Dortmund one thing is for certain, he is never shy of taking tough decisions and is pretty ruthless at showing players the door. He sold seven Dortmund players in his first summer transfer period and same is expected at Liverpool come next month. Jose Enrique has been released and the likes of Adam Bogdan, Martin Skrtel, Jordan Rossiter, Jordan Ibe and Joao Teixeira are expected to leave the club in the summer.

The one department where the reds lack in numbers is on the wings. With only Ibe the traditional winger in Liverpool’s squad, Klopp’s men have ultimately failed to put in good crosses and dominate on the flanks. Surely a winger will be signed in the summer and the one name which has become the talking point all over Europe is the 18 year old, Ousmane Dembele. The French starlet has attracted attention from all the big clubs and it is rumoured that Jurgen Klopp wants the player at Anfield next season.

Dembele has all the attributes to succeed at the highest level and is a complete package. He can play anywhere in the forward line and has played at all at his local club, Rennes. Man City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona have all scouted him and it will be a tough task to bring him to Anfield. Dembele is playing his first senior team season and has become the best dribbler in Ligue 1. He has averaged 5.5 completed dribbles every game. For a player who has played more than 1000 minutes, Dembele is ahead of the likes of Hazard, Neymar and Ronaldo. Yes, you read that right!

He has become the most important player at Rennes and with a team that has limited attacking options and creates little chances, Dembele’s stats are staggering. Put him in a more than decent side and the kid will create havoc. His idol is Neymar, and like the Brazilian superstar, Dembele can beat a defender in a blink of an eye and has blistering pace. His finishing is top class considering his age and has 12 goals and 6 assists to his name this campaign.

Only Dele Alli comes close to Frenchman and there is no doubt that the whole world is watching what Dembele’s next move will be. But he wont decide where his future lies, his mother, Fatimata does. His agent has stated that Dembele’s mother will decide where he will move in the summer. No doubt that the youngster who will turn 19 this may, can become one of the best players in the world if he understands his potential and works rightly on it.

Liverpool might be the best place for him to nurture under Klopp and can test himself in the most consistent League in the world. This signing can serve as a statement of purpose for the reds that a world class potential chooses to join Liverpool ahead of its rivals.
