A Look Back At The Game At Anfield – Liverpool Player Ratings vs Chelsea

The Reds hosted Chelsea for their penultimate game of the season as they were hoping for a double over the Blues. However, their ambitions received an early blow from a brilliant solo effort from Hazard. Christian Benteke came to their rescue with an equalizer right at the death. Here we take a look at how the Reds performed in the game.

Simon Mignolet – 6
The keeper made a few good stops but he was not looking confident. He made a few errors which could have cost his side more, but luckily he did not concede more than once.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7.5

Clyne was good with the runs and he was thorough with his work rate at the right side. He was caught out, but he covered up for that in the remaining minutes.

Dejan Lovren – 6
Lovren was not able to match the pace of Hazard and Traore. The center back was not at his best defending the quick counter attacks by the Blues.

Kolo Toure – 6
Toure had an average game and was caught out of position a few times. His partnership with Lovren was not the best for Liverpool.

Alberto Moreno – 7
Moreno had a good game in attack as he combined very well with Coutinho and Firmino on the left flank. Like always, he needs to work more on his defensive game.

James Milner – 6
Milner did not have a good game considering his standards and expectations set by him. He has been the dark horse for Liverpool in difficult times, but couldn’t produce the same in this game.

Emre Can – 6.5
Can had a fantastic game against Villarreal which marked his comeback after the injury, but he was not his usual best in this game. He was not able to dictate and dominate midfield.

Adam Lallana – 6
Lallana was busy in creating chances, but with no substantial outcome. He also took a few shots which were off target and got into decent positions, but with no real threat to Begovic’s goal.

Roberto Firmino – 5.5
The Brazilian was having a good run of games, but in this one, he was just not able to contribute as much as he would have liked. He got a one on one opportunity in the early exchanges of the game, but later on he was not sharp.

Philippe Coutinho – 6.5
He had a few shots on goal and made those cuts inside, but he was not able to produce that magic.

Daniel Sturridge – 5

The striker was selfish on a number of occasions and also was not at his best in front of the goal.

Subs

Christian Benteke

He was on for Lallana on the 75th minute and scored the all important equalizer in the dying minutes.

Joe Allen
He was a part of the double substitution and came on for Coutinho. His introduction did give a boost to Liverpool.

Sheyi Ojo
He was brought in as a last desperate measure from Klopp in the dying minutes and it did pay off as his cross led to the goal.
