Liverpool Match Ratings

Wembley was colorful as ever as Liverpool played Barcelona in their international champions cup fixture. Even if it is a friendly, playing against Barcelona is a tough task for any team. Liverpool had this challenge and with a week to go for the premiere league to kick off, this game was the perfect warm up to the big season ahead. The Reds demolished Barcelona with an astonishing score line of 4-0 and the fans went crazy with this performance. Let us look at how the players fared on the occasion.

Mane Liverpool1

Simon Mignolet – 7

The goalkeeper did a good job as he made two impressive saves from Turan and his former team mate Suarez. Mignolet needed some game time to get his confidence back and this game will do him good.

Nathaniel Clyne – 6

Clyne was looking good with the runs but needs more defensive stability in his game. The right back was caught out of position a few times and will need to improve upon that.

Dejan Lovren – 7

Not only did he manage to help his side keep a clean sheet, but made some impressive tackles and was good in defending Suarez.

Ragnar Klavan – 7

Partnered well with Lovren at the back and was confident defending the dangerous Barcelona attacks. He looks likely to start once the league starts.

James Milner – 6

Had a tough time defending Messi but except that he was pretty good in defence. Milner was also making runs but ended up leaving the field injured.

Emre Can – 6

The defensive midfielder was looking in good shape but was not at his best as he was lacking the pace and the zeal which he had last season. However, we can hope that with more game time he will be back to his best before the season starts.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 7

Played at a central position as opposed to his favored attacking position but did a good job in holding the ball and maneuvering it across the pitch.

Adam Lallana – 8

Lallana had a really good game as his combination with Mane led to the first goal. Was looking sharp throughout the game and showed some flashes of brilliance later on as well.

Sadio Mane – 9

The best player on the pitch for Liverpool and one can clearly see why Klopp was delighted on his arrival at Anfield. Looks like a great prospect for the club.

Philippe Coutinho – 7

The Brazilian was looking sharp in attack and looks back in form for the season. He along with Mane and Lallana can really make a difference in attacking midfield.

Roberto Firmino – 6

Firmino played as the lone striker but was juggling between attacking midfield and striker position. Had a decent game.
