Liverpool Set To Fight It Out With Manchester City To Make A Summer Move For This Highly Rated Croatian

One of Liverpool’s biggest targets for a year or so seems to be on the radar once again. Ante Coric, who was just one medical away from joining the Reds this summer, could be on his way to the club this time around.

According to the Sun, the Croatian midfielder will be a major target for Klopp in the summer, but Liverpool won’t be the only team chasing the youngster, as Pep Guardiola has also set his sights on Coric. Coric has earlier been quoted saying that he would love to play in the Champions League with his favourite club, which could very well be Liverpool.

The talented midfielder certainly would be a great option for the Reds and it was a bit of a surprise as to why he decided to stay at Dinamo Zagreb this season, especially after a number of clubs were after his signature.

The 19-year-old was also part of the impressive Croatian side in the European championships held in France but he was not able to break into the first team. Coric had earlier been linked with moves to Real Madrid and other Premier League clubs but Croatia was where his heart is set.

This season, Coric has played in 13 games across all competitions and has scored two goals. The 19-year-old is a talented attacking midfielder with quick feet and his movement and range of passing are his biggest strengths.

Coric still has four years left on his contract and it certainly takes a massive transfer bid from any club, if they do want to sign him up.

Should Liverpool sign him up?

Liverpool will not be the only club looking to sign the youngster up but the Reds do have a bit of an upper hand, simply because they have been in contact with the player earlier. Coric would be a great addition to the side but the rumour does seem to not carry a lot of weight at the moment.

Jurgen Klopp doesn’t really let out a lot of information regarding transfers and it would be a surprise if the German does sign Coric up. Liverpool are blessed with a lot of talent in the attacking third and they probably have a number of young players waiting to impress the management.

In recent games, it has been the academy players who have shone for the Reds and that will certainly continue in the upcoming months as well. Klopp had also stated that he would look to use more players from the youth system rather than buy.

Coric isn’t the complete package yet and moving to Liverpool would mean spending a lot of time on the bench, something that the Croatian would not be willing to do. If he does not mind sticking around and learning at Anfield, Coric would be a great signing for the future.
